This at-home atmosphere was completely different from my previous workplace.

The reason I changed jobs to TYSONS & COMPANY (below TYSONS) from my previous restaurant workplace is because I wanted to challenge myself to another company than staying at just one. I was 33 at the time, and looking from an age and experience perspective, it was the perfect time. I loved going to all of TYSONS’ restaurants, and it was a company I had well respect for. The concepts and food are all different, and it was always full every day so I was very interested in what kind of people worked there with what kind of values.

Once I joined the company, I realized that this company was different from the core. TYSONS values teamwork and has an at-home work environment. I was surprised to hear that full-time staff get their monthly 9 days off based on the idea that "you can get better work done when you get enough rest." Many seemed to have enjoyable private lives so I felt a big gap in a very good way.

Any little comment made by the staff is an important part of the guest's experience.

After joining the company I worked at T.Y.HARBOR, beacon (now CRISTA) and CICADA before moving on to the manager position of IVY PLACE. The manager is the person in charge of the entire restaurant. As a manager, I have the sole responsibility of making sure the guests and staff are having a good time.

Casual talk between staff and guest is a culture of TYSONS existing from the beginning. In addition to taking orders and explaining the food, there is a culture where the staff talks to the guest with emotion. For example, when a guest orders a new menu item, they add something like "This is one of my favorites from the new items too." At other restaurants, increasing the waiter time at one table may be frowned upon because that means less time to care for other tables. However we teach our waiters to provide support so that waiter can spend more time with that guest and to let others know if they had a small conversation with them. This is how we staff create guest experiences. Of course, it's great to hear the words "The food was good!" since food and drinks are what we deliver directly to the guest, but when we hear "We had fun" from a guest, I compliment that staff and let them know that it is one of the best comments you can get.

We support each other during bad times. We help each other learn and grow.

When I was manager at beacon (currently CRISTA), I was in the hospital after a car accident. Even after I returned to work, I could only answer the phone and do office work for a while. Everyone told me to not push myself too hard, and that they would help as much as possible. All the help I received really made me appreciate the warmth of this company.

One other thing I was very surprised about TYSONS was how much time they put into educating both full-timers and part-timers. From work manners to wine and food, there are plenty of opportunities to learn within working hours. This company is a place where not only experienced people, but people who have never served a plate before can learn and grow. It's also a good environment for women to work in. If you like people, hospitality, and feel some kind of attraction towards TYSONS’ restaurants as a guest, you'll be fine. You will find yourself working with people like your family, and you will be able to present your individuality.

Joined TYSONS after working in management positions for another restaurant company. After working at T.Y.HARBOR, she transferred to beacon (currently CRISTA) as manager and CICADA as assistant manager, to her current position as manager at IVY PLACE.

Employment Information

Between ¥250,000 and ¥450,000 per month or more
*Experience taken into consideration
(an hourly salary of between ¥1,100 and ¥1,300 during one to five months of training)
Please choose preference from all TYSONS & COMPANY restaurants, cafes, bakeries and other services.
Paid Days Off:
9 days a month (Shift system)
Full coverage for transportation expenses, one raise per year, two bonuses per year (equivalent to twice the basic month salary), dining allowance, employee discounts, full coverage on social insurance, overseas training program in place (partial coverage of expenses)
