JOB INTERVIEW
Mitsuo Muto
BREWS / No.4 General Manager
A Passion for Hospitality Born in Australia:
Growing with Diverse Professionals at TYSONS
My experience in Australia during a working holiday in 2015 became a major turning point in my life. I was captivated by the depth of the food and beverage industry there, and soon found myself wanting to continue this path even after returning to Japan. The catalyst was a visit to IVY PLACE as a guest; I had an immediate intuition that "this is where I want to work," and I joined the team as a part-time staff member. That was my first encounter with TYSONS & COMPANY.
Currently, I serve as the General Manager for "No.4" in Kojimachi and "BREWS" in Tennoz. Since No.4 is open from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, its atmosphere shifts dynamically throughout the day. In terms of service, I find great joy in the casual conversations with local residents and their direct feedback. I am also constantly inspired by our kitchen and production staff, who pour their passion into thinking of ways to make our guests even happier.
At our new location, BREWS, we have a gathering of specialists from different fields, including brewers, roasters, and baristas. Naturally, their work styles and perspectives vary. Being able to witness their high level of professional awareness up close is incredibly stimulating for me. I feel that this opportunity to interact with such a diverse range of professions is one of the greatest strengths of TYSONS.
Rediscovering the Comfort of TYSONS:
My Approach to Leadership and Creating a Positive Workplace
Having spent over 10 years with this company, I feel its greatest appeal is the "openness" —communication is incredibly easy here. In fact, there was a period when I briefly left the company, but when I decided I wanted to return, I was welcomed back with a warmth that made me realize just how comfortable this place is. Because of this transparent environment, I believe our staff feels empowered to try the things they want to do and truly enjoy their work. To protect this positive environment as a supervisor, the thing I value most is "consistency in my mood." No matter how busy or stressful a situation may be, I strive to remain flat and approach everyone with a smile. I believe that my stability as a leader directly translates into a sense of security and trust for our newer staff members.
Just as I was given the chance to take on challenges here in the past, I now want to be the one creating that environment and supporting everyone else. It is my major role and my greatest reward to cultivate a workplace where each staff member can shine in their own way.
The True Joy of Hospitality Lies in "Human Connection":
To Future Teammates Who Embrace New Challenges
The food and beverage industry is sometimes viewed with hesitation, but I believe the essence of this work lies in "human connection." In service, you can feel firsthand how youʼve made a guest happy; in the kitchen, you can watch closely as the dish you created reaches the person it was made for.
At TYSONS, there is an environment where you can freely try the things you want to do. For those who are proactive and motivated, there is no better workplace. I look forward to working with new teammates who can find their own joy in the smiles of our guests.
