JOB INTERVIEW

Brendhan Kelly

Hospitality Communication Manager

Brendhan Kelly

To treat everyone as your friend’s friend.
Providing an experience with the upmost hospitality.

This place brought back the touch of hospitality I experienced in my childhood

I was always a fan of TYSONS & COMPANY (Henceforth: TYSONS) even before I had joined the company. Everything from the service, atmosphere, and food was top notch and I visited their establishments quite often. I knew this was ultimately the place where I wanted to work once I decided that I was moving to Japan.

One of my memorable moments at a TYSONS establishment was when I took my friend out to dinner. Our server kept trying to communicate with us in English. I insisted that he can speak Japanese to us but he never stopped trying. I distinctively remember his level of hospitality and commitment which made that experience that better and more than just a simple night out.

My father was always in the hospitality industry. I grew up watching and helping him serve guests and was always surrounded in a hospitality environment. TYSONS was the first place in Japan where I was able to experience a similar type of hospitality and service.

My job now as the Hospitality Communication Manager is to maintain and control the hospitality level of the entire TYSONS group. For example, to spread and teach our hospitality beliefs, I incorporate our TYSONS philosophy-based program, TYSONS WAY to create the TYSONS EXPERIENCE for each staff and guests. When beacon was rebranded to CRISTA, my job back then as the manager was to explain the reasoning behind the rebranding to our staffs and guests in order to avoid any confusion. My position has a wide range of duties including anything which involves the TYSONS culture, creating a memorable moment for each of our guests, to training our employees.

Treating each guest as more than “just a guest”

TYSONS has many different stores each with different concepts. Operations, method of service and hospitality was a bit different at each establishment as well. My job is to visit and work at each store in order to maintain and regulate a TYSONS level of hospitality and service. TYSONS is more than just providing a simple dining experience for our guests. Our base belief is to add that extra touch on top of basic gestures such as smiling, eye contact, and simply explaining a menu item.

Service and hospitality are in the same group but quite different. My idea of great hospitality is to treat every guest as if they are your friend’s friend. Not close like your direct friend but not just an acquaintance. The perfect amount of distance to treat them with the upmost respect yet friendliness and kindness even for first time guests. Ultimately, if I’m able to befriend them, that would be the most ideal outcome.

Kind = Together with kindness, to
become a worldly accepted company

TYSONS hospitality all begins with our staff. If our staff members keep smiling, I strongly believe that will be reflected to our guests. When I visit our stores and see our staff and guests laughing together and enjoying themselves, I cannot ask for anything more. This is why one of my main duties is to create an environment for our employees where they can keep smiling when they come into work.

On the other hand, my main mission is to create a dining experience like no other for each of our guests and to share our artisanal craftsmanship and the TYSONS world and culture. Here at TYSONS, we brew our own craft beer, we hand craft and bake our breads fresh every day. The amount of work and time our chefs, bakers, brewers, put into the items is shown through their craftsmanship.
I hope to keep evolving the TYSONS hospitality and service level to become a company accepted not only in Japan but worldwide so each employee would be proud of working at TYSONS. I look forward to accomplishing this goal along with the kind hearted people at this company.
